How we make over $20,000 per month from affiliate marketing

– Last month, we made over $20,000 from affiliate marketing alone. So in this video, we're
gonna go behind the scenes, and I'm gonna share with
you a full breakdown on where that revenue comes from and how we grew our affiliate
income to be such a powerful, almost entirely passive, income stream so that you can learn
how to make money online with relevant affiliate
programs in your business. Now, last month was
actually a little bit below our recent average for
monthly affiliate income We've had month this year
where affiliate revenue alone has come close to $50,000. So more than double what
we're looking at now. So that variation from month to month Now, whether you think
that number is high or low, it is worth mentioning upfront that we have a very particular way of doing affiliate marketing. We say no to a lot of opportunities and that's because our number one focus is never on maximizing this number.

It's about maintaining
integrity and objectivity and always acting in the
best interest of our viewers and our members. We'd never be affiliates for something that we don't believe in
or participate in programs just because they have
higher affiliate commissions. So this is how much we earned from affiliate marketing last month, and this is shown in US dollars. Now, I've got it broken down
into some different groups or categories here, so you can see the types
of affiliate programs that we're a part of and how
that total amount is made up from these different groups.

Now, some of these are
pretty self-explanatory. Things like Amazon is where we're a part of the Amazon Associates Program across a few different regions. So we've got US, Canada,
Australia, Europe, and any of the other
ones that we're a part of are all here under this group. Courses is any digital
courses and programs that we recommend to our audience. Design tools is another obvious one. This is things like Snappa, a design service online
where we show people in our YouTube videos how they
can make channel banner art for their YouTube channel
using services like Snappa. Now, in a case like that, we'll
try to offer a free option wherever we can if it is
the best option for people to get that result. But in some cases, there
could be a paid upgrade, and that's where the
affiliate program comes in. Down to live streaming
tools, another obvious one. This is where we have
things like Ecamm Live, evmux, StreamYard. With the videos we make, we're able to create dedicated reviews for each one of these platforms, but we also have roundups of, say, the best live streaming software for 2023, in which case we'll
compare our top options and where it's a fit and
where the platforms have them, then we'll include affiliate
links in those videos too.

Looks like we didn't have any other gear recommendations this month, but productivity apps
are things like ClickUp, which is a tool that we use to run a lot of the behind the
scenes systems and things, the day-to-day running of Primal Video, and also other tools like a Agorapulse that we use to manage
our YouTube comments. Video tools is anything
related to video itself and YouTube growth.

So in here we've got
things like Epidemic Sound, like Artlist, which are
our top two recommended stock music sites. We've got Rev.com in here, which is what we recommend
for transcribing your videos. We've also got tools like VidIQ and TubeBuddy in here as well, which are great tools to help you grow and manage your YouTube channel. Now, this category back at the top here, affiliate platforms, this is where we are looking
at services like Tradedoubler, Impact Radius, or any of those
other affiliate platforms where you can be signed up to
multiple affiliate programs under that service. So to show you what I mean by that, this is Impact Radius. And you can see inside of
this Impact Radius platform, we've got Envato Placeit, we've got Canva, WeVideo,
Envato Marketplace, Otter, Telestream, TechSmith, Adorama, Best Buy, Walmart, Musicbed, all of these fit under that one platform.

So you can see we're actually a part of a lot of different affiliate programs for different tools and services, but they're all things that we use or that we recommend
for a specific use case or for a specific outcome for someone. So these types of affiliate
programs are perfectly in line with the direction and
goals of our channel. There's so many people out there giving affiliate marketing a bad name because they're opting for
the highest commissions. I'm gonna promote this service because of how much money I'm gonna make, but that's really short lived. So you gotta think of affiliate marketing like you're gonna give your recommendation to your closest friends
and family members. You don't wanna recommend bad stuff, you don't wanna recommend stuff that's gonna waste their time, waste their money.

It's gonna be a bad experience for them, and they're not gonna listen to your recommendation ever again. So this is where you really need to be integrity with this stuff and really only recommend
this stuff that is good, that is gonna actually help people. Now, if we come back to
our spreadsheet here. I am not a spreadsheet person, but if we stretch this column out here, then we can see how this
compares to October, so the month before. And you can see that the revenue there, it was a little bit higher for that month.

And if we bring up September,
you can see 25,000. So it's higher than what
we reached in November, but it's not quite as high
as what we had in October. So this is where, again, it's gonna change from month to month. Some of these affiliate
programs don't pay out monthly. Some of them you have to
reach a certain milestone, so that's why we'll have some months that could be higher than others. Others might pay out quarterly. So this is where, for
us, affiliate revenue is one of our three revenue streams.

And I will get to that very, very soon, but you'll wanna make sure that you're not putting all
your eggs in one basket here. We've been a part of affiliate programs that we're generating a
nice level of revenue for us that have been shut down
overnight with no notice, just the company no longer wanted to run an affiliate program. And for another example
of how this could change, let's have a quick look at ConvertKit. And again, ConvertKit is still one of our top recommended options
for growing your email list and managing your email list. But their affiliate program,
they've changed it dramatically over the last few months. So you can see for a long time, our numbers here were much, much higher. But then down here,
this is where ConvertKit made some changes to how
they're defining lifetime for their commissions.

And you can see the effect that it's made on our commissions there. But again, this doesn't stop
us recommending ConvertKit because it is still a really good option. But it is worth knowing that
any of this stuff could change. And we started our YouTube channel almost exactly eight years ago. So it's taken us some
time to get to this point, but it by no means means
that it's gonna take you that long as well. You can definitely achieve
this much, much quicker, and that's one of our
goals at Primal Video is to really help people
have success with this stuff and to do it faster and easier than we did because we learned so
many lessons the hard way and the long way. If you wanna see results
with this stuff faster, you could definitely utilize
things like your email list, build out automated email funnels to help link people not
just to your latest videos but also to that back catalog, that library of content
that you're building out on your YouTube channel as well. Again, coming from that place
of how can I help people and being strategic with the
content that you're creating, you can get results much, much faster because you know you're creating stuff that people actually want and your content is
actually there showing up so that you can help
people with your content.

So growing our email list off the back of our YouTube channel
is a big focus for us in our business. We're able to offer a free PDF guide or some advanced training, something specific designed
to help our audience achieve a specific outcome, but it's something as an
exchange for their emails. Now, from there, we can then send out some of these automated emails
to help them have success with whatever that pain or problem is, that thing that they're trying to solve. And wherever it's a fit, we can also utilize affiliate
links in there as well, again, all designed to help
people with that outcome. Now, if you're struggling
to come up with ideas for which affiliate programs
or tools or services are gonna be a fit for you to
recommend to your audience, then this is where you could
run this simple little exercise where you just sit down and you just jot down on a piece of paper or an empty Word document or something, and you're writing down
what are the tools, the services, the programs, the courses, the things that you use,
the books that you read, what are the things that
you would recommend, again, to your ideal
clients, your ideal students, or your friends and family to help them with the stuff that you
want to help them with.

Once you've got that list, it's as easy as jumping on
those companies websites and just doing a quick search and seeing if they have
an affiliate program or a referral program. And most of them are gonna be free and easy for you to sign up to. Now, if you can't find
it on their website, you could do a quick Google
search for the company name or for the product and affiliate program. Or if they don't have one yet, you could definitely reach
out, send them an email, send them a DM on
Instagram, whatever it is, let them know that you love
their tools, their services, you want to promote them. You're looking at making
some YouTube content, and they might create
an affiliate program. We've definitely had that experience with a few different
companies from our side. Or even if they don't have an
affiliate program immediately, this is something where they
might add one down the track.

Now, we've actually had this as well where we've created videos that
do mention specific products and tools that didn't
have an affiliate program, but later on, they've
created an affiliate program. We just grabbed that
affiliate link of ours, we insert it back into
the video description, from content that's already
live on our channel, and we're able to turn
on a new revenue stream really, really simply. Now, affiliate marketing is
just one way to make money. It's one of three income streams here that we have at Primal Video, which I mentioned a little earlier, which generate us over seven figures in our business annually. So we've got affiliate revenue. We've also got our digital product, Primal Video Accelerator, and the third one is from YouTube ads. So you don't need to go and
have a ton of different products and services or be constantly promoting for everyone under the sun. This is why we like affiliate programs. So we're not having to jump from sponsor deal to sponsor
deal and have, you know, a short hit of income and
then go work for the next one.

No, we can create something where it is a win-win-win scenario. We can create a video we're
able to mention products that we love, that we
use, that we recommend. That's a win for the viewer
because it helps them. It helps them with a specific outcome, helps 'em with a buying decision. It's a win for the company because we're not just
sending them random clicks, we're sending them qualified leads of people that are already interested in that product or service. And that's where it
becomes a win for us too, because if they sign up and if they've got an affiliate program, then we're able to receive a
commission or a fee from that. And that's why we love affiliate revenue and why we don't do sponsored
videos on our channel, so we can remain totally objective but also create that win-win-win scenario. Now, I've got two videos that
