Rookie Affiliate Questions

I'' m launching my affiliate website on Monday, and I have questions – please and thank you:
- Since I don'' t have affiliate links yet for anything but Amazon'' s Affiliate Program, should I just track clicks on the external links I have used in content that I wish to replace with affiliate links in the future?
- What are great metrics to strive prior to applying to affiliate networks? What should my month-to-month typical site traffic be?
I have a lot of experience with SEO, content writing, and social media, which are all the avenues I'' m using – well, plus social networks and PPC ads. Any guidance will be appreciated.
